About

Welcome!

A very warm welcome to Barneys! We’re glad you’ve found our site and hope that you’d like to join our church family. Our focus in on life-changing Bible teaching and a loving community as we gather around the Lord Jesus Christ. We seek to reach out to our families, friends, and neighbours with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
About St Barnabas…

Barneys has been around since 1916, and we are deeply grateful to God for the wonderful work he has done among generations here. We are praying, hoping, and working that he will continue to work in and through us, helping us to grow together in the love and knowledge of Jesus.
What we believe

Barneys is Evangelical and Anglican:

  • Being evangelical means being committed to the ‘evangel’ – the ‘gospel’ – the ‘great news’ about Jesus. It means we are simple bible based Christians. We want to let people know about Jesus, who he is, what he has done, and what he is doing. The message at the heart of the Bible is all about Jesus.
  • Being Anglican means we are in partnership with other churches in the Sydney Diocese of the Anglican Church of Australia. Our heritage theologically and historically is in the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century and its expression in the 39 Articles and the Book of Common Prayer.

Vision Statement:

We are called to live for Jesus, to see ourselves, our families, friends and neighbours radically transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit, through the Word of God, to know, love and serve, our God and Saviour Jesus Christ, his church and his world, to the glory of God our Father.
